The annual PBB Mission Awards are designed to support projects that address key areas of the PBB Mission, including support of research and service projects investigating the effects of specific intervention methods for repeatedly exposed populations, developing programs to prepare people for disasters, identifying the risk and resilience profile of potentially vulnerable communities, studying effective ways to build societal resilience in the face of disasters, armed conflict and terrorism, and peace-building and nonviolent conflict resolution. Since 2008, PBB Mission Awards projects have been conducted in nine countries (Thailand, Cambodia, Peru, Sri Lanka, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Israel, Rwanda, the Palestinian Territories and Canada).
